Welcome TO CarbonCore
Powering the Future with Purpose
CarbonCore is building America’s largest advanced energy materials complex – proudly rooted in Boyd County, Kentucky. Clean fuel. Local jobs. Long-term resilience.
CarbonCore is building America’s largest advanced energy materials complex – proudly rooted in Boyd County, Kentucky. Clean fuel. Local jobs. Long-term resilience.
We’re not just building a refinery.
We’re building careers, clean air, and a future Boyd County can call its own.
We’re building more than the nation’s largest Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) refinery.
We’re building a future Kentuckians can believe in.
Our Catlettsburg complex will deliver clean fuel, high-paying jobs, and critical infrastructure to Eastern Kentucky – all backed by community partnership and long-term resilience.
CarbonCore operates 24/7, creating over 1,500 permanent jobs with stable, local-first hiring.
Water-smart systems, air-quality protections, and advanced AI control reduce waste, emissions, and impact.
From sustainable fuels to advanced materials, CarbonCore is shaping a clean, secure economy for generations.
From the moment CarbonCore arrived in Eastern Kentucky, we’ve been honored by the warmth, vision, and shared purpose of the Boyd County community.
This isn’t just where we’re building – it’s where we belong.
Our commitment to creating opportunity, driving innovation, and delivering long-term benefit begins with the people who believed in us first.
Proud to call Boyd County home.
CarbonCore is proud to be collaborating with some of Kentucky’s most respected institutions, partners, and builders – all united around one goal: to deliver transformative energy infrastructure that honors community, drives innovation, and puts Kentuckians first.
These partnerships aren’t just symbolic. They reflect our commitment to building locally, hiring locally, and holding ourselves, and our collaborators, to the highest standard of impact, transparency, and trust.
Every partner here wears a helmet not just for safety, but as a shared promise:
“What we’re building serves Kentucky first, and stands up to the world.”
Modular Fischer–Tropsch systems powered by AI — producing ultra-low carbon SAF at commercial scale, ready for 40,000 bbl/day.
Custom reservoir + water tower system, stormwater resilience, and AI-managed usage. Designed to serve both CarbonCore and the community.
Future‑ready infrastructure to support domestic graphene production, rare‑earth processing, and circular carbon innovation.
Over 250 acres in Boyd County, zoned and graded for high‑throughput energy manufacturing with rapid mobilization pathways.
From Fischer-Tropsch synthesis to AI-optimized fuel systems, CarbonCore builds modular, high-throughput energy infrastructure engineered to operate at scale, with no shortcuts and no greenwash.
Our Fischer-Tropsch SAF pathway actively removes carbon from the atmosphere - not merely reducing it.
World-class engineers, AI scientists, and process chemists - building Kentucky’s future from the ground up.
Industrial-scale site, IRB-backed and ready for rapid infrastructure deployment.
Backed by $21M in state incentives, CarbonCore is forging a national model for rural energy innovation.
From site control to SAF production, every step is precision-engineered for speed, scale, and impact.
We rapidly secured a 227-acre industrial site in Boyd County, Kentucky - shovel-ready, IRB-approved, and centrally located for regional logistics.
Backed by $21M in incentives from Team Kentucky and Boyd County, and aligned with Department of Energy, USDA, and Department of Defense priorities.
Working with Gray Construction, Gray Solutions, and Johnson Matthey (Honeywell) to deliver high-throughput SAF by the end of 2026.
CarbonCore targets 40,000 barrels/day of SAF production, with AI-integrated operations and long-term feedstock supply chain resilience.
CarbonCore is building America’s first AI-optimized energy materials complex, beginning with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production in Boyd County, Kentucky. Our goal is to deliver scalable, carbon-negative energy solutions while creating lasting jobs and local benefits.
We are supported by a multi-phase financing strategy:
An Industrial Revenue Bond from Boyd County (~$2.2B)
A $19.6M private bridge round (currently open)
Series A equity round ($420M planned)
Federal debt via the Department of Energy Loan Programs Office (~$1.2B)
All financing is designed to retain local ownership and maximize impact.
Engineering design is already underway.
Land acquisition is scheduled for mid-to-late 2025
Construction of SAF systems will begin shortly thereafter
Production is expected to commence by late 2026
We are coordinating closely with Gray Construction, permitting agencies, and local leadership to streamline each milestone.
CarbonCore will create over 1,500 direct jobs in Boyd County, including:
• Process technicians and operators
• AI and data systems engineers
• Construction and fabrication trades
• R&D, logistics, and quality control
We are proud to partner with eKAMI, Team Kentucky, and local schools to ensure regional workforce development benefits are maximized.
Absolutely. Our SAF production is carbon-negative by design:
• We use waste biomass and low-carbon feedstocks
• Our Fischer-Tropsch pathway removes more CO₂ than it emits
• Future expansions include graphene, rare-earth recycling and green hydrogen
Every process is AI-optimized to reduce waste, energy use, and emissions – enabling true industrial decarbonization at scale.
• Boyd County, KEDC, and Team Kentucky – for strategic site control, community partnership, and project incentives
• Gray Construction + Gray Solutions – our EPC and AI/automation integration partner
• Johnson Matthey (Honeywell) – providing our Fischer-Tropsch reactor and catalyst technologies
• eKAMI – Kentucky’s leading workforce training institute, with deep ties to Gray and CarbonCore, helping develop the skilled trades needed to operate advanced facilities from day one.
• Alignment with DOE, USDA, and Department of Defense – for long-term funding, procurement, and decarbonization priorities
CarbonCore’s ecosystem is deliberately local, scalable, and designed to deliver lifelong community, industrial and environmental benefit.
CarbonCore has already aligned with leading partners across engineering, automation, sustainability, and government to accelerate deployment and ensure long-term success.
CarbonCore is developing the nation’s most advanced sustainable aviation fuel complex right here in Boyd County, Kentucky. With over 227 acres secured, 40,000 barrels per day in future SAF capacity, and 1,500+ long-term jobs anticipated, this is more than a facility, it’s a national-scale clean energy anchor designed to fuel both flight and opportunity.
At CarbonCore, our vision is more than a blueprint — it’s a shared mission. These are the voices of those who believe in our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and real economic impact in Kentucky and beyond.
