The technology

An established pathway.
Engineered for
a clear purpose.

CarbonCore’s planned pathway connects woody biomass with sustainable aviation fuel through gasification, syngas conditioning, Fischer–Tropsch synthesis and upgrading.

01 / The conversion pathway

From woody biomass
to aviation fuel.

Each stage prepares the material for the next. The development task is to integrate these specialist technologies into a coherent production system.

What happens.
Why it matters.

A clear role for each stage, with interfaces designed as part of the whole pathway.

01

Biomass

Woody biomass is received and prepared for conversion. Feedstock characteristics and moisture inform preparation requirements.

Why it matters

A defined feedstock basis helps align handling, preparation and downstream process design.

02

Gasification

Biomass is converted at high temperature into synthesis gas, a mixture containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen.

Why it matters

This transforms a solid resource into a gaseous intermediate for subsequent fuel synthesis.

03

Syngas conditioning

The gas is cleaned and its composition adjusted for the requirements of the synthesis stage.

Why it matters

Contaminant control and an appropriate gas composition are important to catalyst protection and process integration.

04

Fischer–Tropsch synthesis

Conditioned syngas reacts over a catalyst to form hydrocarbons.

Why it matters

This is the synthesis step connecting the gas intermediate with liquid-fuel production.

05

Upgrading

The resulting hydrocarbons are further processed and separated into suitable product fractions.

Why it matters

Upgrading shapes the product stream toward aviation-fuel blendstock requirements.

06

SAF

The intended aviation-fuel output must meet applicable testing, blending and fuel-specification requirements before use.

Why it matters

Fuel quality and qualification connect the production pathway with aviation use.

03 / CarbonCore’s role

Integrating the system.
Developing the platform.

CarbonCore is developing a commercial production platform that integrates specialist technologies. The underlying conversion technologies are established pathways, not CarbonCore inventions.

Process interfaces

Align feedstock preparation, gas quality, synthesis and upgrading requirements across the planned pathway.

Common infrastructure

Bring production trains together with the utilities, handling and site services required by the regional node concept.

Engineering development

Define and evaluate the integrated configuration as project engineering and technical assessment progress.

04 / Development discipline

A defined objective.
Engineering the integration.

Our objective is to produce lower-carbon sustainable aviation fuel from woody biomass. Configuration, operating performance and lifecycle outcomes require project-specific engineering and assessment.

An established conversion pathway does not, by itself, demonstrate the commercial readiness or performance of CarbonCore’s proposed integrated configuration.
